Does my voice or text ever get uploaded?
No. All speech recognition runs on your machine via whisper.cpp. After the one-time download of the app and a model, Quill needs no internet at all. There is no telemetry by default.
Which apps does it work in?
Any app with a text field, editors, browsers, chat apps, email, IDEs, even in-game chat. It types real keystrokes into whatever window has focus, so the clipboard stays untouched.
Do I need a fancy GPU?
No. It runs on CPU out of the box. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, a one-click install enables CUDA for much faster transcription, with automatic CPU fallback.
Is it really pay-once?
